What you're actually accepting
- Toncoin (TON) — the native coin. Seconds to finality, fees of a few cents, and the thing Telegram-native users tip, trade and hold by default.
- USDT on TON — Tether's native jetton, pushed hard inside the Telegram wallet. For stablecoin checkout it combines Tron-class fees with the convenience of paying without leaving the chat app.
Both credit fast: TON's block cadence is seconds, and our confirmation threshold on the chain keeps checkout wait in the "still looking at the screen" range rather than the "come back later" range.
The address details we absorb
TON has a few sharp edges that a payment integration has to get right, and which you shouldn't have to learn:
- Address formats: TON addresses come in bounceable and non-bounceable flavors that look different but can point at the same wallet. We issue deposit addresses in the non-bounceable form wallets expect for payments, so funds don't bounce off an uninitialized contract.
- Jettons aren't "at" your address: like Solana's token accounts, a USDT-on-TON balance lives in a separate jetton-wallet contract owned by the address. Detection means watching the jetton wallet and verifying the transfer notification actually came from the real USDT master — the anti-spoof check that separates a payment processor from a balance-watcher script. Ours does this per deposit.
- Storage rent: TON contracts pay ongoing rent; sweep and payout logic has to leave the right reserves so wallets never freeze. Also handled, also invisible.
The Telegram loop, closed
TON acceptance gets more interesting combined with the platform's Telegram surface: your buyers pay from Telegram's wallet, and you can run the merchant side — balance checks, payment feed, even payouts — from OrbChain's Telegram Mini App without opening a laptop. Buyer and merchant both never leave the app. For communities that live in Telegram, a payment link dropped in the group chat plus TON enabled is a complete store.
Enabling it
Settings → Accepted Coins → enable TON and USDT_TON. They join every existing surface — checkout picker, links, invoices, per-user addresses — with the same webhooks and the same 0.4%. Volatile-averse? Auto Settle converts TON to your stablecoin at settlement; USDT-on-TON buyers are already stable end-to-end. The five-minute setup path is on the TON acceptance page.
